How To Find Your IP Address
Each computer or device connected to the internet has at least one unique IP (internet protocol) address. Knowing your IP address can be useful. Say, for example, you wanted to know how much traffic your website is getting, but wanted to exclude the times you visited. You could tell your webtracking program not to count visits from your IP address.

Finding out your IP address is fairly straightforward in most cases. Just visiting the following website should give you your IP address:

However, it is possible that you have a dynamic IP address, which changes every time you connect to the internet. This is often the case with dynamic internet connections, such as dial-up internet access. In order to find out if your IP address is dynamic, you should check it using the site above, write down the number, disconnect from the internet and then reconnect and check it again. If the numbers are different, then you have a dynamic IP address.

Occasionally, you'll get the same address even if your IP is dynamic, because it is chosen from a limited number of IP addresses. You could try repeating this test a few times, or contact your internet service provider to find out. If it is dynamic, they can tell you the range of possible IP addresses.

If you exclude a dynamic IP address from your webtracking counter, then you will potentially be excluding other people from the counter, so it may not be a good idea. However, it is likely a small pool of IP addresses who are most likely your neighbors using the same ISP.

That's all you need to know about finding your IP address.
