How to Make a Kite

In order to make a kite, you will require following some important details of instructions. Choosing lightweight materials is the first important thing for making your kite.

Steps:

1. Start by cutting two lengths of doweling rod with one being16 inches long and the other with 24 inches of length.

2. The next step is measuring each cut piece using a ruler and then marking the shorter, piece at half its length. Next step is marking the longer piece at a third of its length.

3. Now, place the two rods at right angles in such as way that one comes on top of the other while the marks touch. A cross shape should be formed by the two rods.

4. Now, attach the two rods as one using a thin, strong string at their meeting point. Bind a secure knot and then disconnect the excess string.

5. Slash a small notch into the ends of both rods.

6. By placing some string in the notch at the top of the kite frame, slowly twist it around the top of the rod.

7. Once the string becomes well-binded at the top of the rod, you should then draw it firmly around the edge of the frame. Confirm that it fits securely on each notch in the rods.

8. After returning to the top of the frame, you should now secure the string while tying its ends jointly in a tight knot.

9. Put the completed frame on top of a large piece of paper.

10. Considering the kite frame as a template, you should now cut out the paper with a utility knife or scissors.

11. Spread glue along the outside edges of the paper and then fold up it over to enclose the string so that it binds to the paper inside the frame.

12. A tying a length of string to every end of the shorter rod, the string has to be a bit lengthier than the rod. Now tie one more length of string to every end of the longer rod in the same way.

13. After picking up the two strings with one hand tie them together. Make tails by securing several ribbons to the bottom of the kite by means of strong glue.
