How To Treat Dogs
Being an animal that cannot communicate its illness, you as the owner are responsible in understanding the sickness of your dog and get it cured by a veterinarian.
There are numerous illnesses and health problems that a dog might be affected with such as viral and bacterial infections, genetic factors metabolic disorders, immune abnormalities, trauma, cancer, or degenerative conditions.
They are also prone to other chronic diseases like kidney failure, skin allergies and infections, stomach inflammation, food allergy, dental disease, worm infestation, urinary infection, ear infection, epilepsy, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, pancreatitis, and many others to mention.
A dog demands complete attention and care when sick. You should take your dog a veterinarian immediately whenever you come across signs of dog sickness. Making a few changes on its diet gradually is highly recommended for dogs that suffer from diarrhea and vomiting.
Pancreatitis is a problem that is affected by dogs due to the consuming of leftover foods that are to be avoided. However, vomiting may also indicate other diseases other than an abdominal upset. Prevent your dog from too much of drinking as it can in turn increase vomiting, thereby causing dehydration. Your veterinarian will suggest an appropriate treatment.
Avoid feeding the dog at least for 12 hours after that. Start with less amounts of white meat diet including boiled fish or chicken together with white rice. Allow your dog to drink only after 12 hours if your dog suffers from diarrhea. The same mild diet plan should be followed after the recovery from diarrhea. Changing to ham, cat food, fresh chicken and gravy and pilchards are good idea. Adding garlic with warm food is also a good option.
Dogs suffering from arthritis should be offered medications according to the prescription by mixing it with food. When affected by sore skin avert it from licking with the help of a Buster or Elizabethan collar. Bathing your dog with cool salt water, or applying an ice pack would be good option. Using chamomile or hazel lotion is also highly recommended for soothing the skin of your dog.
