Materials and tools needed for drywall include safety glasses, concrete nails, ear protection, hat channel, automatic screw gun, rigid board insulation, concrete-nail gun, faux top and sole plates, and heavy-duty adhesive.

Before applying the drywall, you should prepare a sketch of the wall and ceiling areas to be covered. In order to fasten the hat channels to the wall, using concrete nails and a concrete-nail gun after drawing a plumb line is recommended. Also check out that the hat channels are properly spaced for the size of drywall and insulation used. Drive three concrete nails by spacing at even intervals, through every side of each hat channel. Certify whether you have worn eye and ear protection while using a concrete-nail gun or other tools that has been propelled by a gas cartridge and a battery.

You can easily frame out the rest of the wall by adding together faux top and sole plates. Drop the top a bit for a drop ceiling. Adding rigid board insulation between the hat channels is also recommended as it helps in providing some reflective heat. Using a thick zigzag bead of heavy-duty adhesive to glue on the insulation is also a good idea. Cutting around any electrical or plumbing is also essential.

Now join the drywall and start with the ceiling and then move down the walls. Then mark the plumb lines on the drywall corresponding to the hat channels underneath. While screwing into the hat channels with an electric screw gun, you can get the help of a friend to hold the drywall in place.

You can cover up minor mistakes in the mudding or plastering over of the wallboards with this process that helps in smoothening and uniform surfacing on walls and ceilings. The last work is finishing with sanding and priming.
