How To Build a Greenhouse

Building a greenhouse takes around an hour and can be done using materials brought from any hardware store. This is how you can build a greenhouse.

For making larger greenhouse, you can use salvage materials so that you can design and plan it under reduced budget.

1. You will first require determining the climate of the place you are living. Cold climate areas would need an insulated greenhouse as it will provide the required warmth and heat for your plants. A greenhouse with a shade control would be good for warm places.

2. Remember to design your greenhouse with proper air circulation spaces, pest control soil, ventilation, heaters for winter season, and humidity control devices.

3. Find a sunny place as the location of the greenhouse needs enough sunlight. For growing vegetables and exotic fruit bearing plants, a solar greenhouse would be the best. In such a case, you can position your greenhouse on the east-west part.

4. Covering the greenhouse is essential. Fiberglass and other glass coverings are expensive options. Choosing greenhouse with glass or fiberglass covering offers increased warmth and humidity.

5. Next step is choosing the type of foundation. It can be of concrete for a more secured greenhouse. You can also choose less expensive lightweight foundations with materials like railroad ties that get attached easily to the ground. Your choice of foundation depends on your financial capability.

6. Always build a greenhouse with full potential. Adding benches or materials can add comfort to the green house whenever you wish to relax. Adding many other accessories to the place like heating systems, automatic watering systems, ventilation system and other automatic equipments as per your need also help in effectively maintaining the plants.

7. While considering pest control chemicals, go for the good bugs that prevent and control the spreading of the bad bugs in a greenhouse.

8. You can store spaces in the greenhouse for storing fertilizers, potting soil and other tools needed in the greenhouse. Placing a tool rack close to the potting place helps it easier for transferring the soil from the pot of the plants.
