How To Give a Back Rub

A good back rub not only makes a person feel good but also alleviate stress and relieve tense muscles. If you would like to give a good back rub, you have to do a bit more than just simply moving your hands over the back. Here are some guidelines.

Slightly warm the oil by placing it in hot water for about 10 minutes. Warm oil provides better feeling rather than using cool. On the persons back, pour a small amount and smoothly spread it across the back and shoulders. Use of oil on the area you are rubbing aids your hands to slide across the skin without pinching. Add more oil when required.

Using the heels of your hands, press on the bottom of the back and softly rub upwards in small movements. Execute long strokes, starting from the pelvis and both sides of the spine. Using both of your thumbs, lightly press on either side of the bottom of the spine. Rub up until you reach the base of the neck; and then run your way back down again.

Rotate your hands when you get to the shoulders, in order that your fingers stretch out to the ribs; and stroke back down again. With your hands, massage across the shoulders, working your way down to the bottom of the back. By this time, you will almost certainly hear sighs of contentment, and you can take it as the symbol of a well done job.

Work your thumbs in deep, small circles, starting from the internal part of the shoulder blades, going up the spine into the base of the head and then down to the small of the back. At the base of the head, deeply press the tips of your forefinger and middle finger into the furrows. As you glide down, alternate hands, overlapping your strokes.

Slow and deep is the secret of giving a fine back rub. By following these tips, the receiver of your back rub might feel satisfying sufficient to give you one in return.
