How To Eat Lobster

Cooked lobster may be tempting but eating one, that too a whole one can be daunting and difficult. Here we provide you with a step-by-step guide to tackle the lobster.

Steps:

#1:

Where to Begin
You can start by breaking the two big claws. Just cut through them at the point where they connect to the legs.

#2:

The Claws
The claw has certain thumb-like areas which should be bent back and away from the bigger part to remove them. You can pick out the meat which is inside the shell after removing cartilage from the claws. Following this, you can take out the bigger portion of meat from the bigger part of the claw. If necessary, you can use nutcrackers to open them more.

#3:

The Legs
Of all the parts of your cooked lobster, you would probably find the legs to be the most technically challenging to eat. The legs contain lots of hard joints but little meat. However, if youre determined, you can do it. The nutcracker would help you here; use it to crack open areas on the huge front legs. You can twist the rear legs off the body and suck the meat out just like you would suck juice from a straw.

#4:

The Tail
For many, the tail is their favorite section of the lobster. This shouldnt come as a surprise as the tail contains the biggest area of meat. To open the tail, you need to detach it from the body. For this, you can bend it side to side at the point where it links to the shell of the body. Once you have removed the tail, grip it in such a way that the rounded posterior is alongside your palm. You need to press the sides of the tail together till they snap and then rip them apart to get to the meat. Lastly, remove the skin that you find at the top of the tail and also get rid of the dark thin entrails.

#5:

The Body
Though the body contains roe, liver and a lot of tasty meat bits; it is mostly not consumed. If you decide to eat the body however; you should avoid the head, cartilage and feathery grills. When you removed the tail, it left an opening. Grip the body at this opening, keeping one hand at the bottom near the legs and the other above the shell. Free the body of its shell and you have succeeded in opening the body. Youll find tasty roe (red color) and tomalley or liver (green color) inside the body. Put in a little more effort and you can also get the last sections of meat at body bottom, between the legs.

To be a happy lobster eater, you only need to overcome the creatures creepy appearance and its hard shell. It would be useful if you had tools like a heavy knife, cleaver, pick, and nut-cracker to simplify your efforts.
