The method of cooking pork depends on the kind of meat you buy. Leaner and smaller cut pork meat cooks very fast while the large boned pieces of pork take a bit more time and technique to cook. As with other meats, the first step before cooking them is cutting.

The first cut of the pork meat depend on which part of the pork you have purchased, whether they came from the loin, shoulder, side or leg. Most of the acceptable pork comes in loin and shoulder cuts. If you prefer shoulder pork, then it needs slow cooking with prolonged cooking time. The pork loin that is derived from center of the back of pork is the best meat for roasting as it does not have large amount of fat contained in it. The loin roasts is tenderer than tenderloin pork that differs in cooking process. As like other meats, brining in salted water is the first and the most important process that adds adequate taste and flavor to the meat. Brining makes the meat very tender and tasty for cooking.

Pork meat is cooked in two different types, they are: by dry heat method and moist heat method. Dry heat method involves cooking in extremely hot oven or skillet for short amount of time, while moist heat cooking involves cooking along with liquid of less tender parts of meat. This method of cooking helps in breaking down the fibers and hard tissues of the pork and thereby forms the best cooking method for roasting pork in electric skillet, oven or crock-pot.

Along with the right cooking method, the following of right cooking time is also equally important. The cooking time varies according to the size and type of the meat. Pork loins require 350 degree F to roast and pork tenderloin needs 425 degree F with an average time of 45 minutes.
